How to Convert Uppercase to Lowercase and Choose the Right Text Case

To change ALL CAPS to lowercase, paste your text into the Text Case Converter and choose lower. HELLO WORLD becomes hello world. Other choices handle headings and technical names, but they apply different rules and are not interchangeable.

Uppercase and lowercase change letters, not meaning

UPPER changes hello world to HELLO WORLD; lower changes HELLO WORLD to hello world. Digits and punctuation remain in place. These options are useful for cleaning an all-caps draft or preparing a label.

Lowercasing also changes names and acronyms: NASA becomes nasa and Ada becomes ada. Review the result before using it in finished writing. A mechanical converter cannot know which capital letters you intended to keep.

Title case is not the same as sentence case

This tool's Title Case option capitalizes each matched word and lowercases the rest of that word. For the input hello world from the toolkit, it returns Hello World From The Toolkit. It does not apply an editorial style that leaves short words such as from and the lowercase.

Sentence case lowercases the text and capitalizes matched letters at the beginning and after sentence-ending punctuation. HELLO WORLD. NEXT STEP! becomes Hello world. Next step! Proper names and abbreviations still need manual review.

Choose a naming format for technical text

For the simple phrase hello world, camelCase gives helloWorld, snake_case gives hello_world, and kebab-case gives hello-world. These formats join words using capitals, underscores, or hyphens respectively.

Use the format required by the system receiving the name. This converter's joining rules are based on English letters and digits; punctuation and non-ASCII text can produce unexpected results. Conversion does not guarantee a valid variable name, file name, or web address.

Inverting case and recovering your original

iNVERT swaps uppercase and lowercase letters: Hello becomes hELLO. It can be useful for a deliberate visual effect but is rarely suitable for ordinary writing.

Choosing a format replaces the text in the box. Converting it back to uppercase or title case cannot recover the original capitalization, because that information was lost. Keep a copy of the original before experimenting, especially with names or case-sensitive identifiers.

A short cleanup workflow

Paste the text, choose lower for an all-lowercase result, then select and copy it to your document. To compare formats, use a fresh copy of the original for each option rather than repeatedly transforming an already altered version.

Before finishing, check proper names, acronyms, quoted text, and any technical identifiers. Letter case can affect identifiers and some parts of web addresses, so do not lowercase a password or a complete link just to make it look tidier.
